This year we have implemented our VIP (Virtues in Practice) Program in grades PreK-8th. This program is designed to help each child deeply study and practice a particular virtue while recognizing his or her ability to live in holiness like the saints in heaven. Over the past month, our students have grown closer to God and have also studied the lives of Saint Martha, Saint Jerome, and Saint Augustine. Our hope is that they continue to look to the saints as role models of faith. The students shown in the attached photo were recognized at our school Mass this week. Our families are the primary educators of faith in the lives of their children. Thank you for your dedication and for your continued support and trust in the mission and vision of Cathedral-Carmel School!

You may have noticed we have some beautiful wooden benches that have recently been placed around campus. A huge thank you to Dr. Jeff Laborde (CCHS '72) and Mr. Arturo Martinez, who built and donated them for our students! These wooden benches were handcrafted out of the same lumber as the bench seating around our magnolia trees on the front lawn.

Thank you, Dr. Laborde and Mr. Martinez, for your generosity and forethought of the needs of our campus!

Our CCS Chess Club is blessed to have recently received a vote of support in a big way! The Stracener family donated ten (10) chess boards to be used by club members as they learn and strategize at our morning meetings. We are so thankful for this CCS family and their generosity in helping us to "make the right moves!"

As we head into fall and winter, we want to remind parents of our uniform policy regarding outerwear:

- Only BROWN or WHITE outerwear that is purchased through the CCS Spirit Stop and properly branded with out school crest may be worn.
- Full-zip jackets, sweatshirts, fleece, cardigan sweaters (Note: Students are still allowed to wear sweatshirts that were previously purchased through the Spirit Stop).
- If the morning temperature is below 40 degrees, students may wear a white or brown coat (not purchased through the Spirit Stop); however, no other color coat will be allowed.

Dinner by Design is a dinner series hosted by St. John's Cathedral to enrich marriages in our school and parish through these wonderful evenings filled with food, wine, fellowship, and guest speakers. It's the perfect date night for you and your spouse. Open the link below to reserve your spot!

Parent volunteers will be allowed to teach all lessons in the individual classrooms in grades Kindergarten - Fourth grade. Junior Achievement programs are hands-on experiential grade level programs that teach work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to young people.

Our CCS Book Swap was a huge success and the students loved it! Homerooms who donated the MOST books for our CCS Book Swap will receive a Free Dress Day & Popsicle Party on Wednesday, September 27th! Our winners are: PreK (Boullion), KG (Favaloro), 1st Gr. (Furman), 2nd Gr. (Hebert), 3rd Gr. (Spoelker), 4th Gr. (Greer), 5th Gr. Stutes, 6th Gr. (Malagarie), 7th Gr. (Beaumont), and 8th Gr. (DeBlieux). Many thanks for ALL donations from our school community!

All parents are encouraged to learn more about the ever changing world of social media and how it affects the children. Mrs. Julie Evans, our Dean of Students, will be providing new information on a regular basis.
