Pre-K
The Cathedral-Carmel Pre-Kindergarten curriculum is composed of the following subject areas: Catholic Religion, language arts, math, science, social studies, and physical education. In addition to the core subjects, art, music, library, and technology are offered.
Religion - Cathedral-Carmel School is committed to carrying out the three dimensions of educational ministry of the church—announce the message revealed by God which the Church proclaims, build fellowship in the life of the Holy Spirit, and also give service to the Christian community and the entire human community.
Cathedral-Carmel School strives to provide a Catholic environment and religious education program that are particularly conducive to the growth of the total child.
Language and Literacy - The Language Arts Curriculum in pre-K is designed to prepare each child for future success by developing basic listening skills, thought processes, language skills and social skills. The curriculum strives to insure each child’s progress in the following language and literacy skills in a developmentally appropriate environment:

Integrated Curriculum – Each student actively participates in a learning environment guided by a classroom teacher and full-time assistant supported by the home and school community. The Pre-K curriculum fosters cognitive development in the areas of social studies, creative arts, language and literacy, mathematics, physical well-being and motor development, science, and social and emotional skills. Math, science, and social studies skills are integrated into developmentally appropriate lessons that include centers, computers, manipulatives, calendar activities, hands-on experiments, weather and seasonal activities and games. Activities focus on developing counting skills, shape recognition, patterning with colors and shapes, comparison skills, sorting and grouping skills, calendar concepts, and comprehension of directional words. In addition, music and art are integrated into classroom lessons. The school counselor presents lessons to help students achieve academic success, develop an understanding of career opportunities and develop social/ emotional skills in response to issues they face.
