Several years ago the Cathedral-Carmel Foundation embarked on a mission to modernize our campus yet maintain its physical heritage.  A Master Plan was developed and through the fundraising efforts of the foundation, we have been fortunate to raise over $2,000,000 for capital projects which include the Kindergarten/1^st Grade building, the library and computer lab, and the newly constructed bus canopy.

After careful evaluation, Fr. Keith DeRouen, Adele Nunez, Kay Aillet (Prinicpal-Elect), the CCS School Board, and the support of the Parent Booster Association have identified the Cafeteria and Kitchen facilities as the next priority.  Having recently celebrated the school’s 160^th anniversary, we are asking you to join us in this opportunity to help shape the future of Cathedral-Carmel School for your child(ren) and generations to come.

We are in a challenging position as we move into the next development phase.  Estimates indicate that the new cafeteria/kitchen will cost approximately $1.5 million.  We realize parents appreciate the importance of maintaining quality facilities for their child(ren) and the entire student population.  The current cafeteria is extremely inefficient and lacks the capacity we need to feed our students at the appropriate times.  Our plans include increasing seating by nearly 50% which, in turn, will allow the students to begin lunch at a reasonable hour and have a longer lunch period.  Also, by providing additional seating and adequate space, other school-related activities can be conducted as needed within this facility. 

The school administration would like to begin construction of the new cafeteria/kitchen during the 2007-2008 school year.  To reach our $1.5 million goal, we will offer each and every parent, family member, teacher and friend of the school the opportunity to participate and support this important cause.
